What is Oud?

For centuries oud has been beloved for its intense, distinctive scent. Many cultures consider it as a rare and precious material to be cherished. Oud fragrance can be found across the world, in the form of oils and perfumes, and is hugely popular as a base for many oud EDPs, because of its complex, multifaceted nature. 

  • What does Oud smell like​?

    Oud’s distinctive scent is often described as woody, earthy, smoky, and slightly sweet, but the scent can vary depending on the origin of the oud and how it’s processed. 

    When blended with different complimentary or contrasting notes, it can create a unique olfactory experience.

  • What is Oud made of?

    Also known as agarwood, It is an intensely fragrant oil extracted from resin from the Aquilaria tree. Oud scent resin is created when  the tree is infected with a particular mold. As a defense mechanism, it produces the dark, aromatic resin that is beloved across the world.

  • How to pronounce Oud?

    As with any item that is found in different forms in various countries, Oud fragrance (also known as Oudh) has many misunderstandings about its pronunciation. The word itself comes from the Arabic word al-ʿud, which means "the wood" and the most accepted phonetic form is the ‘oooo-duh.’

  • Is Oud unisex​?

    Oud is typically considered unisex with both genders enjoying the sensual and long-lasting oud fragrance. However, it would depend on what other notes it is combined with.Whether you consider an oud EDP a masculine or feminine smell would be down to personal preference.
